Late May, & there is still a chill-
It takes the sun an hour or so
To warm the last of last night’s air
It’s heavy – and it’s loathe to wake
Lost wanderer in tangled dreams.
Weighed down by all the broken hopes
Of things that never were to be
It needs the help of you & me
To breathe it in – and give it life
We’ll make a summer of each day!
